Kayak

Dutch prog rock band KAYAK’s album debut came with “See see the sun” in 1973, they had a hit with ”Ruthless Queen” in 1979 and they split in 1982. Since 1999, the kayak has once again sailed with changing crews. Led by keyboardist Ton Scherpenzeel, today’s KAYAK is of particular interest to Swedes, as the band today contains Kristoffer Gildenlöw (ex-Pain of Salvation) on bass. The latest album’s title ”17” not only marks where in the order the disc comes, but in addition it felt like being 17 years old to record the work. In the beginning, KAYAK was likened to Yes or Focus, the album ”17” has shown parallels to Supertramp, City Boy and Jethro Tull, but it is clear that KAYAK always essentially had a sound of their own. We welcome KAYAK to Gothenburg!
